Dan Lynch is a marketing consultant and professional genealogist based in Connecticut. A fourth generation American of Irish and Italian descent, Dan has enjoyed the many challenges of researching his family history since the late 1970s — the era of the American Bicentennial and Alex Haley's ground-breaking novel Roots. His hometown of Waterbury, Connecticut is rich in history and was one of four cities featured in the 2007 Ken Burns documentary, 'The War'.

After fifteen years in the computer industry, Dan focused his skills on the emerging online market for genealogy and in 1998 joined Ancestry, Inc. as vice president of business development helping to launch the MyFamily.com Web site — one of the fastest growing community sites at that point in Internet history. During his tenure, the company acquired RootsWeb, the oldest free online community for genealogy research. Following three years at Ancestry, Dan worked for the A&E Television Network during their brief ownership of Genealogy.com and the Family Tree Maker software franchise.

In 2002, Dan founded Mattatuck Consulting, a private consulting firm specializing in Internet and search engine marketing solutions. His clients include The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation (New York), FindMyPast (London), FamilyLink.com, Inc. and WorldVitalRecords.com (Utah), as well as other organizations outside the genealogy sector.

Dan is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), a Life Member of the Connecticut Society of Genealogists where he also served as board member and vice president, and is a frequent lecturer at local and national genealogy conferences. He has been featured on several television programs, including ABCs Good Morning America, has published and maintains several popular genealogy Web sites, and his articles have been published in leading genealogy publications including Internet Genealogy, Family Chronicle, Family Tree Magazine, and the APG Quarterly.

She holds masters degrees in business and journalism from Columbia University. Her areas of expertise include web publishing and product/brand management. Joe Everett, International Content Manager for Ancestry.com. Before joining Ancestry, Joe was the head of the International Reference staff at the Family History Library, where he also worked as a Slavic and Germanic records librarian. Joe earned a B.A. in Russian Language and in Family History/Genealogy (Germanic emphasis) from Brigham Young University and a Master of Library Science degree from Emporia State University (Kansas). He has served as an officer in the Federation of East European Family History Societies and the Genealogy & Local History Committees of the American Library Association and Utah Library Association. He has also given lectures and published articles on Slavic and Germanic family history and Central & East European historical geography and migration. Canada Passenger Records 1865-1935 "This database contains passenger lists of ships arriving in various Canadian ports, as well as a few eastern U.S. ports, from 1865-1935. Justin Schroepfer from www.Footnote.com discusses the newly released Footnote Pages. Based initially on the 80 million+ names from the US Social Security Death Index, you'll find that all sorts of events, photos and comments can easily be added to an individual's page. One doesn't need to be an accomplished web page designer to create a tribute to that individual family member. Access is free. The pages exist in a format that makes it Google searchable. Forensic genealogist Colleen Fitzpatrick, author of Forensic Genealogy (the book) visits with Myrt to discuss how DNA research recently helped identify the remains of some 30 merchant marines whose plane went down in the late 1940s. The more Colleen talks about yDNA and mtDNA, the more it seems to make sense to Ol' Myrt here. Colleen also explains the research process and compliments the genealogists in Limerick, Ireland who assisted in the gathering of tombstone inscriptions and evidence of christening, marriage and burial information from local parish church records. Libbi writes "Many of you know Megan Smolenyak Smolenyak as the lead researcher for the PBS Ancestors series where she delved into over 5,000 genealogical stories and developed much of the content for the companion website (http://www.ancestors.com/) She has subsequently consulted for other television programs, including They Came to America and African American Lives for PBS, and BBC’s Timewatch (regarding the identification of sailors’ remains recovered from the USS Monitor). Megan currently serves as Chief Family Historian and North American spokesperson for Ancestry.com and is also co-founder of Roots Television http://www.rootstelevision.com/ just to name a few of her accomplishments. Megan is also host of the series Unclaimed Persons on Roots Tevelevision. Unclaimed Persons features cases–one involving a man who was found in his jeep in the desert and had been lost to his family for more than 50 years — from Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania and San Bernardino County, California. Libbi also talk about the difficult task of going through her mother's compiled genealogy files, particularly on her Powell line in the days before computers and photocopies. Letters from Libbi's great-aunts and uncles provide eyewitness recollections of even earlier generations.

Libbi quotes ideas from Genealogy Online about the necessity of looking at so-called secondary resources such as the society page in the newspaper, using www.Ancestry.com and www.GenealogyBank.com newspaper collections. Looking at land records to see if the tract of land has been divided among heirs. Mentioned were the original deeds at the Bureau of Land Management land records.

He holds a master's degree from Utah State University in instructional technology with an emphasis in computer-based instruction. He is an avid genealogist.
