Myrt spends a little time discussing the advisability of using tombstones as a "source" to document an ancestors life. Since tombstone pictures are often one of the first things we "collect" about an ancestor, it's important to put the information carved on to the stone as a springboard for finding documents that document the ancestor's life.

Justin Scroepher from Footnote.com reports his website has opened the FBI Case files for free access through the end of August 2008 in honor of the 100th anniversary if FBI. Ol' Myrt hadn't thought of this record group as a resources for family historians. I don't have any known criminals in my family tree, but Justin brings some good research ideas to mind during this interview. Cluster groups, neighbors, listing of parents, and towns of birth are just the sort of resources family historians use to find out more about an ancestor.  (This segment begins 9 minutes into the podcast.)
